Valeo Expands Electrification Presence with New Pune Facility
Valeo, a global leader in mobility technology, has expanded its operations in India by opening a new production facility in Pune focused on power electronics. Spanning over 7,000 square meters, the facility aims to enhance Valeo’s capabilities in the electrification sector by promoting collaboration, creativity, and technical excellence.
The inauguration was attended by Yann Keraudren, Valeo’s Power Asia Regional Operations Vice President, Jayakumar G, Group President and Managing Director of Valeo India, and Nitin Chaudhary, Site General Manager of the Valeo Pune Plant.
Jayakumar G emphasized the significance of the new facility in advancing Valeo’s strategy of increased localization and boosting competitiveness in electrification products. The Pune plant is set to cater to the rising demand for the On-Board Power Supply 3-in-1 combination unit, which consolidates an On-Board Charger, DC-DC converter, and Power Distribution Unit. He noted that with the growing electric vehicle (EV) market in India, Valeo is well-positioned to deliver technology solutions that are both locally relevant and cost-efficient.
The new facility also underscores Valeo’s commitment to diversity and sustainability. The company employs more than 40 individuals with disabilities and has undertaken various sustainability measures. A 900 kW solar panel system has been installed on the existing plant, with plans to add another 700 kW capacity at the new site. Additionally, Valeo has upgraded its employee transportation fleet to BS VI-compliant vehicles, introduced two electric vehicles for guest use, and implemented several energy efficiency practices to lower its carbon footprint.
The Pune facility will concentrate on producing the On-Board Power Supply 3-in-1 unit, integrating three essential power electronics components: an On-Board Charger, a DC-DC converter, and a Power Distribution Unit. This integrated system is designed to optimize component usage and improve efficiency in power management for electric vehicles.
With this expansion, Valeo aims to strengthen its foothold in India’s growing EV market while continuing its commitment to sustainability and inclusive employment.
