Vedanta Aluminium Names David Stone as CEO for Coal Mines

VedantaVedanta Aluminium has appointed David Stone as Chief Executive Officer of its coal mining division. In his new role, Stone will oversee the company’s coal mining strategy, utilizing technology and innovation to improve resource efficiency, according to a company statement.

Stone will play a key role in optimizing the efficiency of resources at Vedanta Aluminium’s thermal power plants located in Jharsuguda and Lanjigarh in Odisha, as well as Korba in Chhattisgarh, while prioritizing sustainable mining methods.

Vedanta Aluminium currently manages five operational coal mines with a total production capacity of 40 million tonnes per annum (mtpa).

David Stone brings a wealth of experience from his previous roles at Anglo American, Xstrata, and Glencore, where he was involved in project development, mergers and acquisitions, and managing operations through various phases of growth.

With Stone’s expertise, Vedanta Aluminium aims to strengthen its mining operations and improve resource management as part of its broader growth objectives.
