Viacom 18 Secures Broadcast Rights of Major League Cricket
In accordance with a press release from the company, Viacom 18, which is owned by Reliance, received the media rights to broadcast the inaugural game of Major League Cricket (MLC) on July 17.
The Reliance flagship announced that the coverage will be on multiple platforms, including live streaming on JioCinema and broadcast television coverage on Sports18, even though the specifics of the agreement were not disclosed.
Hursh Shrivastava, Head of Strategy, Partnerships & Acquisitions at Viacom18 Sports, commented on the partnership with the American league and stated that the company anticipates Indian cricket fans will enjoy the action from the first edition.
With Major League Cricket, fans will be able to watch their favourite T20 cricket players and support the teams that belong to their favourite franchisees, according to JioCinema's CEO.
Starting on July 13, the MLC will have six teams, four of which have investors who own IPL franchises, including the Mumbai Indians (who have won the IPL five times), the Los Angeles Knight Riders (who have won the IPL twice), the Texas Super Kings (who have won the IPL five times), and the Seattle Orcas (who have won the IPL once, as the Delhi Capitals).
After the South African T20 League's successful conclusion, the IPL's popularity has continued to spread to the US.
