The global IT, consulting and business process services company Wipro (NYSE: WIT, BSE: 507685, NSE: WIPRO) expands its team. It announces the appointment of Deepak M Satwalekar to its Board, and Thierry Delaporte as the new CEO & Managing Director of the company.

Deepak is a widely respected financial services professional who joins Wipro’s Board of Directors for five years effective July 1, 2020, subject to the approval of the shareholders. He will serve as an Independent Director on the Board. Prior to joining Wipro, he was the Managing Director of HDFC and subsequently the MD & CEO of HDFC Standard Life Insurance.

Welcoming him on the Board, Rishad Premji, Chairman, Wipro, says, “I am truly excited to have Deepak join our Board. With his deep repository of knowledge spanning across the financial services sector, sharp business acumen, understanding of technology and as a strong votary of the highest standards of corporate governance, his invaluable experience will immensely benefit Wipro.”

On the other hand, Thierry will take the charge from Abidali Neemuchwala, who will relinquish his position as CEO & MD on June 1, effective July 6, 2020. Rishad will oversee the day-to-day operations of the company until July 5. Thierry’s prior experience includes COO of Capegemini Group and a member of its Group Executive Board.
