Wipro Ventures Secures $200 Million to Accelerate Tech Startup Investments

Wipro's shares will be in focus on Thursday following the company's announcement of a USD 200 million (approximately Rs 1,740 crore) investment into its subsidiary, Wipro Ventures, to enhance funding for startups in the technology innovation sector. This marks the fourth funding round for Wipro Ventures since its establishment a decade ago, to accelerate investments in early to mid-stage startups, as stated by the company.

Wipro CEO and MD, Srini Pallia, said, "This latest investment underscores our commitment to helping startups grow faster, innovate, and collaborate with the IT services industry to support large enterprises. We envision a collaborative ecosystem where these emerging technologies can be deployed globally, drive progress, and create sustainable value for all stakeholders "

Founded in 2015, Wipro Ventures focuses on identifying and investing in promising early-stage startups driving technological innovation. The Wipro Ventures team connects Wipro and its clients with a global network of startups developing disruptive technologies, enabling Wipro’s clients to access cutting-edge innovations while offering startups a wide network of enterprise customers.

Over the past decade, Wipro Ventures has invested in 37 startups across sectors such as artificial intelligence, data & analytics, cybersecurity, and cloud infrastructure, deploying solutions to over 250 Wipro clients worldwide. The firm has also achieved 12 successful exits.

Wipro's share price rose 9.33% in the past year, outperforming its sector by 4.89%. Additionally, the company has delivered a 142.85% return to its investors over the last five years.
