Yogeshwar Sangwan Appointed as India's Ambassador to Laos

SeniorSenior Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer Yogeshwar Sangwan has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic. A 1994 batch IFS officer, Sangwan is currently serving as India’s Ambassador to the Republic of Paraguay and is expected to assume his new role in Laos shortly.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed his appointment in an official statement, saying, “Shri Yogeshwar Sangwan, presently Ambassador of India to the Republic of Paraguay, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic”.

Sangwan’s diplomatic career has been marked by extensive experience in fostering bilateral relations between India and various nations. His leadership has played a key role in strengthening India’s diplomatic engagements, particularly in South America.

His new posting highlights India’s commitment to deepening its strategic and economic ties with Laos, a key partner in Southeast Asia. As India continues to enhance its presence in the region, Sangwan’s expertise is expected to further strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, and cultural exchanges between the two nations. He is set to take up his assignment in the near future.
