India's Green Energy Drive to Elevate Global Quality of Life: Piyush Goyal
Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, highlighted India’s focus on green energy, including green hydrogen, green ammonia, and enhanced energy storage, at the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) India annual conference. He emphasized that these initiatives will play a crucial role in addressing climate change, while also helping reduce the country's reliance on crude oil imports, thereby cutting trade deficits and reducing the need for foreign exchange.
During his address, Goyal pointed out that India is actively contributing to global sustainability efforts by swiftly transitioning to renewable energy, promoting electric mobility, and adopting a circular economy. "Our commitment to providing energy to the world will uplift the quality of life, both for India and globally," Goyal remarked.
He further noted India's economic progress, which has been characterized by low inflation, growing foreign reserves, and rapid economic expansion, positioning the country as a "Trusted Partner of the World." The minister added that the government's initiatives in developing infrastructure such as roads, power, and digital connectivity are increasingly benefiting the most underserved sections of society, preparing the nation’s youth to engage with future opportunities.
Goyal also emphasized India's transformation from being part of the 'fragile five' economies to becoming the fifth-largest economy globally, making it a preferred destination for investors. "We have laid a strong macroeconomic foundation and inspired the nation to think ambitiously," he said, emphasizing India’s alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for future growth.
On the technological front, Goyal shared that India is at the forefront of 6G development and aims to launch the technology ahead of other nations. "By aligning with the Prime Minister's vision, we are confident of realizing our aspirations," he concluded.
